12 Mar Stage Notes: Les Delices celebrates Women’s History Month
“Les Delices, a Cleveland-based early music ensemble, is celebrating Women’s History Month with two special online programs.
First will be the premiere concert “Women in Music” at 7:30 p.m. Monday,, featuring Bay-area soprano Michele Kennedy. The program, produced remotely with Les Delices, features vocal and instrumental music by historic female composers Clara Schumann, Maddalena Sirmen, Barbara Strozzi, Isabella Leonarda and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre.
The concert is part of SalonEra, Les Delices’ early music-focused webseries. Harpsichordist Byron Schenkman and violinist Shelby Yamin also will be featured.
Artists will do a live question-and-answer session after the 7:30 p.m. broadcast Monday. The program will remain available for viewing for 48 hours. The SalonEra concert is free to watch, with a $10 suggested donation.
“Women in Music” can be seen at https://salonera.org/watch-now (a donation link is included) or on Les Delices’ Facebook page or YouTube Channel.
At 7:30 p.m. March 18, Les Delices will premiere the online concert “Women of Genius,” which will be available to stream until 7:30 p.m. March 29. The program will highlight female poets, performers and composers of 17th- and 18th-century France.
Soprano Clara Rottsolk recorded the program live on location with Les Delices. Historic female artists who will be celebrated range from poet Marie de Louvencourt to keyboard virtuoso Marie-Francoise Certain.” – Kerry Clawson for the Akron Beacon Journal
