Time Stands Still is an intimate new program of songs and instrumental music from seventeenth-century England that urges us to seek solace, hold hope, and create community. We’ll follow a path from John Dowland’s famous lute songs Flow my Tears and In darkness let me dwell to Henry Purcell’s beguiling Music for a while and his hope-filled Evening Hymn.
Brilliant and colorful concertos set the tone for this festive holiday season. Bask in the warmth of Michel Corette’s tuneful Simphonie de Noëls, a concerto for two oboes by Vivaldi, Bach’s F major harpsichord concerto (BWV 1057), and Christoph Pez’s joyful Concerto Pastorale for two recorders and strings.
In Kiss and Tell, star countertenor Reginald Mobley joins Les Délices to explore the coded language of love and desire in bucolic poetry from the late 17th & 18th centuries. The program’s centerpiece is Kiss and Tell, a new myth-inspired cantata by composer Damien Geter with a libretto by Tsitsi Jaji.
Les Délices revives its popular program featuring special guest Seán Dagher. The Mermaid lures listeners on a fantastic journey filled with tales of pirates, fearsome storms, raucous drinking songs, toe-tapping fiddle tunes, rousing sea shanties, and more.
