SALONERA HIGHLIGHTS CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN SE: EAST MEETS WEST – STREAMING NOW!
The second episode of SalonEra’s 5th season is streaming now on all platforms. Featuring a wide range of archival recorded performances from Quebec’s Infusion Baroque and New York’s East of the River, “East Meets West” (watch it here) celebrates musical and multi-disciplinary collaborations that build bridges and reveal fascinating connections between disparate cultures and music-making traditions.
In this episode, SE Host Debra Nagy interviews founders of East of the River Daphna Mor and Nina Stern about their genre-defying work centering Eastern European and Middle Eastern traditional and folk music and Thai-American violinist Sallynee Amawat of Infusion Baroque (Montreal, Canada) and Indian-American vocalist Vidita Kanniks about their exciting new album East is East, which they describe as “An intercultural collaboration with music inspired by ancient and contemporary influences from the East and West.” Amawat also shares beautiful video from Matchanu, a dance drama featuring traditional Thai khon dance performed to French Baroque music, created during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now in its 5th season, Les Délices’ award-winning early music webseries and podcast SalonEra will release eight new programs during the 2024-25 Season. To date, two video episodes have premiered this season (Traveling Musicians of the Middle Ages and East Meets West) along with a podcast exclusive (In Harmonie) about LD’s program Moonlit Mozart. In 2025, SalonEra will premiere two more video episodes and two additional podcast exclusives featuring concert audio from Les Délices’ 2024-25 Concert Season, Visions & Dreams.
Each episode of SalonEra streams free with a suggested donation of $15/episode. Video episodes are available from their premiere date through June 30, 2025, with podcast versions of the same episodes available at salonera.org and wherever podcasts are heard.
SalonEra continues its SE Membership Program in its fifth season. With a $125 donation, patrons can join or renew their membership, receiving exclusive access to “the vault” to enjoy Seasons 1, 2, 3 & 4 on-demand.
